A short vacation

Goodness, it’s been quite a while since I posted here. After being away for a week on vacation I came home and became ill almost immediately. Now I’m on the mend again so time to start catching up …

Being on a short vacation with my family is always great. I’m very close with my brother, my sister-in-law and their kids and we make sure we see each other on a regular basis. Spending vacations together is one of the ways we do that.

This time we rented a little bungalow in the woods. From there we were able to visit an “open air museum” and we had dad over for a day. He never wants to go out anymore but we managed to persuade him to come and of course he loved it.

At the Open Air Museum … a typical shop front from the “Zaanstreek”,  just north of Amsterdam.

It doesn’t get any more Dutch than this :)

Enjoying the sun with dad and family.

The rest of the week was uneventful, sunny and nice. We had of course the inauguration of our new King but I will put that in a separate blog.

Coming home we soon discovered that both the kids and I didn’t feel well. We all were violently sick all weekend and it has taken me quite some days to feel better again. And even though I still don’t like to eat (my stomach is easily upset at the moment) I do feel better.

Only a few days left as next week normal life starts again …

  1. Sorry you are/were sick. Since it’s usually the kids who get sick, no wonder you are sick. LOL

Can’t help but notice Julia’s braids. They look really cool.

    • LOL, thank you for the compliment! I feel so young now ;)

Julia could barely sit still long enough for those braids. She really wants her hair to hang loose but sis not always agrees. This time sis won, lol!

  2. Sorry you were sick.

  3. must be nice to see a bit of sunshine and enjoy it with the family – especially your dad!!. Nice too, to see the three generations of the men in your family sitting there side by side – they seem much alike. Is your nephew still playing rugby??

    • He is! He is captain of his team now and nearly missed a place in the regional team. They want him to try again next fall as he is really good. As a matter of fact, my little niece plays rugby too now. LOL She is fierce!!!
