Picture Perfect – M is for … Memories

This week  we have to post anything with the letter M

I did a little research and came up with a photo near to my heart …

My great-grandparents opened a hotel back in 1895 and used this china for the guests. My great-aunt had to work there and kept it safe after the hotel closed in 1947, just after World War Two, when no one in the Netherlands had time or money to go on a vacation.

When she died I inherited it and part of it has now  pride of place  in my  living room. It holds dear memories to my great-aunt.

  1. Such interesting detail in the china as wel I am sure details of your family’s history with the hotel – would love to see this photo larger but it does not enlarge, unfortunately. Nice too, to have the beginnings of an heirloom from someone dear to us – a gentle reminder and memories of the history of that person from whom it came plus of course a treasure for many future generations.
